Dude, what is up with the Facebook Debbie Downers?
We all seem to have a couple. One is a girl that moved out of my hometown in second grade. Aside from the fact that she named one of her kids Marlena (like sands through the hourglass…), she’s not that bad. Most of her updates are about being sick, or anticipating a cold, or just getting over a cold, or frantically trying to prevent a cold. Or how she spends too much time on Facebook LOL. (I’m slowly accepting all these acronyms into my life, however begrudgingly. No one rolls on the floor laughing, BTW.)
Anyway, the pinnacle of Eeyore-level sadness has been reached by this girl I knew in college. I think we were both English majors, but otherwise I don’t remember her very well. Her updates over the past few days are as follows:
people suck sometimes.
is done with the weekend. done.
i’ve had enough of the rain.
doesn’t know what to do. :-/
wishes she could find her sense of self.
is having a bit of a meltdown.
wonders when it’s going to get easier.
is feeling under the weather as well as very inadequate.
needs a vacation from her life, if that makes sense.
And then once, simply:
Ummmm, yeah. Enough. Can I post Prozac to someone’s wall or WHAT.
ROTFLMAO
(BTW… is it just me… or have you also blocked about half of the status updates on facebook? I mean, I’m glad your pregnant… but do you need to remind me 8 times a day?)
Why doesn’t she just write “needs attention” and be done with it?
…and this is the website you keep chastising me for not being a part of?
There’s a blogger whose Twitter feed is nothing but this kind of stuff. I mean, nothing good seems to happen to her ever, and I used to feel bad for her, but now I’m wondering if it isn’t just her crap attitude. She’s incredibly negative. Chicken or the egg?
If you hadn’t said it was a girl you knew in college, I’d be convinced you were talking about a girl in MY friends list. Hers are all about how she has no self esteem and is not worthy of love and does not deserve good things. MAN. This is your Facebook wall, not a therapist. Sheesh.
p.s. my friend is still pregnant and now she has heartburn.
Poke.
Love it!!! And in a moment of paranoia, I had to go check my facebook updates and make sure mine haven’t been depressing!
